Belhaven Neighborhood Center Master Plan

TPUDC was hired to create a Master Plan for a two-block infill site adjacent to a large regional hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. We created a new mixed-use center in the historic Belhaven neighborhood that will serve as the heart of the community and a junction between the busy hospital and the quiet neighborhood streets that surround it. The project includes a large civic plaza and new housing types to address the “missing middle,” including rowhouses and multifamily apartments above commercial ground floor uses. A historic house on the site will be preserved and is intended to be converted into a restaurant and european-style produce market. Bistro lights strung across Manship Street from building to building will create a festive atmosphere. Music venues and restaurant and a food hall will bring added vitality to the neighborhood center. While the site is being prepared a pop-up market will be installed with food trucks.
